Mavors' history

Son of Morpheus from the Thanatos family of the House Tremere, he respects the family tradition having as initial letter of the name M or T, like the most famous Magi of his House.
After the Schism War, the Thanatos of Tremere spread their Magi all over the world in order to achieve power for their family and for the House Tremere as well. The family had an important role in the destruction of those Tremere who broke the Code of Hermes joining the evil forces and becoming vampires.
Morpheus was one of the most famous and influencing members of Thanatos; he was used to take long rides toward Coeris for magic trainings, and during one of these journeys, he reached Hibernia where he saved some O'Connors from a terrible demon.
They were breeders and land owners and give Morpheus lands to thank him. In Luimneach (Limerick) neighbour Mavors was born in 1203, son of Morpheus and Maia of Tremere who, unfortunately, died giving him birth.
Morpheus wasn't able to help her in spite of his amazing magic skills. The sorrow for Maia's death was so unbearable that he had decided to leave for a long journey when he was murdered by unknown murderers.
But the Thanatos of Tremere found out what happened to this famous son and ordered Olennius, from Waterkeep, Elinor's filius, to teach and take care of Mavors. Olennius, unwillingly, became Mavors' Pater, fearing his own family. He is a necromancer expert in Rego Corpus, he used to live in his tower, the black one, from where he's rarely off.
Mavors grew within an unhappy atmosphere with a severe and dark teacher who disliked him. He felt physical and mental oppressions; his training was hard and distressing and he often remembered his parent's death but he couldn't show his Pater such a pain by crying; now, he can't stand people crying and considers them to be weak. He was used to think of his father Morpheus whose famous acts are reported in several texts and whose mighty he was eager.
He grew silent, suspicious, prudent, dark , violent and eager to find out who had murdered his father. From some diaries, he got to know the link between the Thanatos family and the House Tremere to the Order of Hermes. His character was shaped through thousands of pains and, for this reason, he has a sense of superiority and arrogance towards people who, in his mind, have never felt what he did. Only, son of Morpheus, of the Thanatos family, from the House Tremere, could he stand. By now, Mavors will respect only Tremere Magi and those who will gain it.
When, after the training, he became Magus, all the House was pleased but Olennius, who sent him to Cliffheart, the Covenant he considered the most poor and weak of Hibernia and where, with a stroke of luck, he could find death, maybe by the hand of the rival Covenant, Ashenrise, led by his Mater Elinor of Tremere. Mavors understood this choice; he went however to Luimneach where he had contacts with the O'Connors who managed his lands. There he took Joseph O'Connor as custos.

Mavors of Tremere's diary

NOVEMBER 1226
I finished my apprenticeship; I, Mavors of Thanatos family, of House Tremere, am a Magus.
It has been hard here at Waterkeep; Olennius, my Pater, never liked me, and never has been next to me.
Now all it's done and for my will.
My thoughts go to my real father, Morpheus of Tremere, killed by unknown hands I hope to find out, to achieve my vengeance.

DICEMBER 1226
Unbelievable! Olennius hates me so much he sent me to that insignificant Covenant, Cliffheart, a name which reminds me of a lonely and far little isle in the deep south of Ireland.
Ancient and mighty Covenant, now is inhabited by Magi hidden in caves, for fear... they say.
But that doesn't matter at all, even this time it's up to me.
I don't mind if Cliffheart hosts cowards: they will learn courage. They will find a leader.
I'll bring Cliffheart to the ancient splendour!
Voluntas vincet omnia!

JANUARY 1227
I met Cliffheart Members at Cionn tSáile, where they were busy to haunt down a rejected Magus; immediately, after offering my help, introduced myself and asked to join the Covenant.
What a pity! They all seem to me a group of old ladies...
After killing the Magus, they wasted a lot of time to decide what to do with his child, born few minutes before, in the middle of the battle. They don't know that a child wants to revenge his father's name? So, I solved that boring matter, eliminating the baby too. They will thank me, in the future.

MARCH 1227
Still, I have not understood my Sodales.
Except Aswick di Tytalus, Primus of the Covenant, they seem to me pretty weird!
Laetus Viator is a Red Cap, a peaceful, wise and well informed man.
Yolhe of Tytalus is an arrogant and nasty Maga. I think I wouldn't stand her for long. Her face, more than her personality, offends me.
Eileen of Merinita, on the contrary, is a real fascinating woman, even if she had lost an arm; she is interested only on her dear faeries.
Graudius of Flambeau seems to me ways different. He's an expert Magus, able to cause pain. Good!
And, at the end, Nascimentus of Bonisagus: he entered the Covenant recently too and, sometimes, I like to have a walk and a chat with him. I wonder how he will act at the first problems...
Will he face them or run away?

JULY 1227
I have to admit my errors: fairies have got huge powers and, sometimes, it's wise to not hang around them.
Thanks to my sharp tongue, I was not punished but, for the future, I'll remember how to behave in faery regiones.

NOVEMBER 1227
I have been travelling with Laetus Viator for four months.
I am completing the duty needed to be a Covenant Member: visiting the lands of this part of Ireland and writing a book on their traditions. Laetus is a nice travel mate, even if, at night, he seems to be sad.
He told me he, sometimes, misses his real family. He's a good man.

DECEMBER 1227
I write the book “Traditiones et Mores Meridiei Hibernie”

MARCH 1228
At last I am a Member of a Hibernian Covenant! I know that the discussion about my appointment has been long, maybe someone was contrary, but it doesn't matter at all!
Now, I'll begin my personal rise to power in this Covenant!

APRIL 5th 1228
I experienced few days like these. Two misfortunes in the same day.
First, Aswick's death, our dear Primus, who several times took my defences against my envious sodales; than Yolhe's appointment to Primus. She, who challenged me in Certamen, my first Certamen ended with a draw. Many times she provoked me clearly, and I have answered with verbs of iron and sentences of steel. Now my project to rule Cliffheart will be delayed but they'll not fail.

JULY-OCTOBER 1228
Woe on me! Why I went to that ancient battlefield? After casting a ReMe spell, a demon took me and brought me to an infernal regio! I ran away three weeks ago but I am still fearful. I remember that horrible landscape and how many pains I suffered. For three endless months. Now I'll live a vita da perseguitato.
I've many scars because of those sons of a bitch!
Now I look at my sodales with different eyes. They did all they can to save me, they have got great powers but still not strong enough to defeat Devil's slaves. One day, I'll return back to that battlefield and the demons will face my anger.

JANUARY 1229
I proved my huge capacities and I placated the Cionn T'Saile riot with a precious mediation!

MARCH 1229
Stupids! They think that those men arrived because I have fear of demons. My sodales don't know they are the first part of a glorious army guided by Mavors. I'll have a great army and through it and my skills I'll have power over whatever I want.

DECEMBER 1229
Mistwood! For long I'll remember this name.
I, Mavors, fell in a trap and I wasn't able to control the vampires' minds. Even a Rego Mentem spell overcame my defences. I must study and improve my arts!

JANUARY 1230
Many things are moving, in this Tribunal; it's time to make a pact between Cliffheart and some other Covenant, to create a third pole in the Hibernian Tribunal.
Cliffheart will return to be a mighty Covenant.

OCTOBER 1230
Joseph is missing! My loyal Custos! It's my fault! Why I trusted Saints and Dominion? I'll trust Church and its deed no longer. Farewell Joseph O' Condor, dear friend, your memory will live in me.

MAY 1231
I did it! Now we have alliances and Cliffheart is not alone. Now I must pay attention to those who can cheat us. I'll visit our alliances from Greyforest often, to control them!
